On her first video-single of the year, the emerging alt-pop voice finds solace in the wake of a break-up.
It might just be a Debby Friday Summer. Past RANGE cover star and Polaris Prize winner Debby Friday is back to claim her celestial throne. Her new album, The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life, lands August 1 via Sub Pop and Royal Mountain Records, promising a dazzling and danceable evolution.
The Nigerian-Canadian artist just announced the follow up to her 2023 breakout GOOD LUCK with a record that’s just as fearless, expansive, and metaphysical. Led by the euphoric new single “All I Wanna Do Is Party” — complete with a striking video co-directed with Kevan Funk — The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life is a bold step further into dance pop territory, anchored by Friday’s philosophical reflections on fame, failure, and the fire inside us all.

Working with producers Darcy Baylis, Graham Walsh, Tayhana, and HiTech, Debby blends experimental pop with underground club textures, mythological allusions, and decadent references. “My starrr is in me, and your starrr is in you,” she says. “It’s just a matter of surrendering to it.”
The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life is available to preorder now on limited edition vinyl. Catch Debby Friday live at Osheaga on August 3, and stay tuned for more tour dates.
