The Toronto alt-rock project are proving that positivity and intention can still go a long way.
Festival Fono is gearing up for its third edition this fall, returning to Université Laval from September 10-12 with a lineup that blends pop instincts with wide-reaching crossover appeal.

At the top of the bill, GIMS, sombr, and Alessia Cara anchor a weekend that pulls from across the mainstream and indie spectrum. The lineup also features names like Chance Peña, Sofi Tukker, Angus & Julia Stone, Fredz, Natasha Bedingfield, and Ariane Moffatt – mixing international draws with Québec mainstays and rising voices.

Part of Fono’s identity is in how it’s laid out, and that continues this year across its three stages. The mainstage, Vallée Beneva, handles the larger moments, while Boisé Coors Light offers a more scaled-back counterpoint. The biggest shift comes from Forêt Électro, which has been reworked into a full-day, late-night hub for electronic sets, running continuously throughout the site.
Further down the bill, there’s always room for discovery – Goodbye Karelle, Sebastian Gaskin, Lous and The Yakuza, and The Franklin Electric among them – giving the weekend a bit more range than a top-heavy lineup might suggest.
Passes are on sale now, with more programming still to come, including the return of Fono’s after-hours shows.
