The countdown is on: Montréal’s beloved MUTEK Festival returns for its 26th edition from August 19 to 24, bringing together more than 120 artists from 26 countries for a weeklong celebration of electronic music and digital art.

This year’s lineup is packed with global heavy-hitters and boundary-pushing visionaries, including Max Cooper, who will present the North American premiere of Lattice 3D/AV, a stunning audiovisual work that “creates a complex and hypnotic visual universe where algorithmic modelling meets emotional sound.” The A/Visions program also features the Montreal debut of Ash Fure, plus a rare collaboration between Shackleton and Wacław Zimpel, featuring Indian vocalist Siddhartha Belmannu.

The nocturnal pulse of the festival will be driven by the Nocturne Series at the SAT, with standout performances by Topdown Dialectic, Speedy J, Phèdre, Holy Tongue, and ReVerie, a project born from MUTEK’s own residency program. Meanwhile, Métropolis at MTELUS will spotlight high-energy sets from RAMZi, Aurora Halal, and e-Dancer, among others.

Composer Ashley Fure

Outdoor performances return to the esplanade Tranquille with a free Expérience Series every evening. Highlights include sets by Madame Gandhi, Baby Volcano, and Florence-Delphine Roux, whose latest work was developed during her Avatar-MUTEK residency.

This year also marks a new chapter as MUTEK debuts at the Théâtre de Verdure in Parc La Fontaine. According to organizers, “classical virtuosity [will meet] electronic modernity, to the delight of all.”

All ticketing options — including Day Passes, Weekend Passes, and special student offers — are available now at montreal.mutek.org. Don’t sleep on it — MUTEK 2025 is shaping up to be a dazzling fusion of sound, science, and art.
