by RANGE

Progressive programming and stunning art installations set against a backdrop of the beautiful Okanagan hills is what has made Bass Coast Electronic Music and Arts Festival an institution over the years.

Their line-up this year features a diverse selection of the electronic underground’s finest along with highlights from other genres sprinkled throughout, like avant-garde hip-hop headliner Leikeli47.

We asked some of our favourite DJs performing this year:

What is going to be the certified remix that will get your dance floor shaking this summer?

Syd Woz

Duke – “So In Love With You (Full Intention 12” Mix)”

A classic feel good banger. The kind that makes you look around the dance floor with a dumb smile on your face and wanna give all your friends a big hug, pure happiness.

The Librarian

Fred Again & Baby Keem – “LeaveMeAlone (Nia Archives remix)”

Nia Archives adds her unique, high energy, classic jungle flavour to the original. It’s a guaranteed hands-in-the-air moment and I can’t wait to watch the crowd react!

Yung Singh

Y U QT – “Y’all Ready for This (4×4 mix)”

Obviously the original jungle track means a lot to me after that Boiler Room moment, so having a wicked four to the floor version remixed by Y U QT themselves is gonna keep the crowds this summer on their toes. You won’t know which version I’ll be dropping when you hear the intro, so when the drops comes in it’s gonna be a nice surprise!

Funk Hunters

CloZee – “Antares (The Funk Hunters remix)”

We just finished this remix for CloZee. She’s such a legend around our festival scene, Bass Coast included, so it was a real honour to be asked to remix a song from her latest album. We flipped “Antares” into a festival style house banger!

Jex Opolis

Known Artist – “X83 (Jex Opolis remix)”

I’ve been doing a ton of remixes lately, some for big artists and some for underground artists. One that’s been hitting in the clubs and festivals is my remix of Known Artist – “X83.” The truth is, the original version was so good, I just had to add a few chords, some 303 lines, and voila, instant banger.

DJ dood

Cajmere feat. Dajae – “Brighter Days (Marcos Lys remix)”

I love a remix that brings in a familiar vocal you can sing to; creating a breathing moment in the set to come out of the rolling basslines and pumping kick while still keeping the energy high. A track that immediately came to mind is Marco Lys’ Remix of Brighter Days by Cajmere feat. Dajae.

Smalltown DJs (Smalltown Pete)

Hawke & God Within – “Acid Funk (Smalltown DJs Remix)”

We worked on this in the winter and have not had the chance to play it for festival crowds yet. I can’t wait to get out in the wilderness and play this one on extremely large sound systems.

Esette

Overmono + The Streets – “Turn the Page”

This track has been making global rounds since its digital release in April and its appeal lies in its big breakbeat energy, and early 2000’s throwback vocals by The Streets that tow the line between grime, garage and house, making it a lethal weapon on the dance floor for many DJs. It comes out on vinyl in July 2024.

Machinedrum

Machinedrum – “RESPEK (Cesco Remix)”

Cesco took my new single RESPEK feat Topaz Jones and Ezri to a completely different world, straight up dance floor killer. I asked all the remixers for 3FOR82 to bring my album tracks into a more club friendly realm and I’m very excited to play them all out this summer!

The 2024 edition of Bass Coast takes place July 12 to 15 in Merritt, BC.

Bass Coast is held on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.
