The UK group returns with a bold, cheeky sophomore album that deepens their indie-rock identity.
The newest hypnagogic post-punk stooge from Montreal, Fernz’s debut Bizou is a needed jolt of energy for the scene. The music sounds dangerous and restless, filled with disjointed rhythms, guitar hooks, and maniac ramblings.
There’s a huge aspect of glam to the album and the character of Alix Fernz, but it’s messy glam: smeared makeup and smashed-out windows, and a storyline that is as much satire as truth. It’s sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, but seen through the eyes of a broken kaleidoscope.
