The Calgary Underground Film Festival (CUFF) has revealed the full lineup for the 13th CUFF.Docs Documentary Film Festival, returning to Globe Cinema from Nov. 19 to 23, 2025. This year’s program features 15 feature films, 14 shorts, and the fan-favourite CATVIDEOFEST, celebrating the art of documentary storytelling in all its curious, creative, and chaotic glory.

Festival Director Brenda Lieberman says the 2025 edition offers “a really unique and eclectic mix of documentaries from around the world, for curious minds to dive into.” The lineup kicks off with BUTTHOLE SURFERS: THE HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUTT, chronicling the radical rise of the infamous American punk band.

CUFF continues its commitment to Alberta-made cinema with #skoden, directed by Damien Eagle Bear of the Kainai First Nation, exploring the Indigenous meme that became a cultural touchstone. Other highlights include HEARSE CHASING, following Calgary musician Cassidy Waring’s return home, and LIAM & FRIENDS, a world-premiere short about Indigenous Olympic snowboarder Liam Gill.

From the Canadian electronic enigma Nash the Slash to American librarians battling book bans in THE LIBRARIANS, the 2025 slate spans wild personalities, powerful activism, and unforgettable true stories. International highlights include ANDRÉ IS AN IDIOT, the Sundance award-winner about dying hilariously, and THE TALE OF SILYAN, the new film from Honeyland director Tamara Kotevska.

Tickets are on sale now at calgaryundergroundfilm.org. Single tickets are $12 ($10 for members, students, and seniors), with 5-Film Packs ($50) and Festival Passes ($75) also available.
