Heavy Trip Unleashes a Cosmic Storm with Liquid Planet

Four long ass tracks of riff-fuelled stoner metal merge 70s nostalgia with a modern face-melting edge.

Vancouver trio Heavy Trip delivers a sonic tidal wave with their new album, Liquid Planet. Consisting of four sprawling tracks, this record is a heavy-hitting tribute to the power of riff-driven stoner metal, brimming with psychedelic ’70s nostalgia and modern edge. From the punishing drum solos to the face-melting guitar work, Liquid Planet is unapologetically raw, drenched in cosmic grooves that feel like a jam session between Hendrix, Sabbath, and one of those infamous “bomb cyclones” you’ve been hearing about on the weather channel.

The band—guitarist Cole Jandrisch, bassist Cole Vibert, and drummer Ben Frith—channels the primal force of nature itself, inspired by their early generator-fuelled jams along Whistler’s Soo River. Each track on Liquid Planet is an evolving beast, balancing structured riffs with improvisational sections that take listeners on an unpredictable trip through space and time.

Adding to the album’s allure is its stunning artwork by legendary NYC illustrator Arik Roper — known for his iconic album art and poster design for bands such as Sleep, Earth, Sunn 0))), and OM —  making the vinyl a must-have for collectors. Heavy Trip’s unrelenting dedication to live energy and dynamic soundscapes shines on this release, solidifying their place in Vancouver’s underground heavy music scene.

For fans of Earthless and Electric Wizard, Liquid Planet offers into an immersive escape into heavy, otherworldly realms. Grab the vinyl, crank it to 11, and prepare to be annihilated.
