The Vancouver artist leans into her singer-songwriter roots, adding a dash of country twang to her lyrical storytelling.
“I have an album coming in August, see you at the shows,” Mac DeMarco pointedly announced in his recent press release. And while not much more about the album is known at the moment, what we do know is that DeMarco is hitting the road again, and this time, he’s bringing it home.
The beloved indie singer-songwriter teased the album and has announced a sprawling new tour that kicks off this fall with North American dates, including a stop at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre on September 24. Following that, DeMarco will travel through Europe and the UK before returning for a cross-country Canadian leg in December.
The December stretch sees the Edmonton-raised artist play intimate venues from Halifax to Victoria, with highlights including back-to-back shows at Toronto’s Massey Hall and a long-overdue hometown stop in Edmonton at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium.
Known for his laid-back charm, distinct slacker-rock sound, and cult fanbase, DeMarco has built a reputation as one of indie rock’s most magnetic live performers. His first album since dropping his epic 199 track album of outtakes and mostly instrumental work, One Wayne G, in 2023, this next offering could go in any direction. For now, this tour offers a rare chance to catch the cult hero in venues big and small.
Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, April 11 at 9 a.m. PST, with select U.S. dates (including L.A. and Santa Barbara) going live a day earlier. Ticket info is available at macdemarco.com
