The Ottawa rapper switches up the melodic trap formula with his celestial new single.

Ottawa rapper, singer, and producer 404vincent has elected to get astrological on his latest track as he adds to a strong string of singles this year. His latest, “Pisces,” is a sunny and upbeat melodic trap cut that feels right at home with the feel-good hit-making charm of artists like 24kGoldn and Don Toliver. Coasting over knocking hi-hats, soulful backing vocals, and a languorous guitar hook, 404vincent runs through a series of fun-loving flexes as he watches the romantic stars align.

Despite 404vincent’s braggadocio, his love interest’s star sign suggests he’s hiding a more sensitive side. There’s a reason the track sounds like it would be perfect for your first post-COVID pool party – she’s rocking a water sign, her fellow Pisceans known primarily for being empathetic and emotionally intelligent. 404vincent relishes in winning her back as the track plays out, looking around at the fruits of his musical labour and confidently confirming it as an obvious reason why.

The track’s most exciting moment comes during the final chorus, when 404vincent shows that he can put his own innovative spin on a trendy sound, distinguishing himself from his contemporaries through some cross-genre creativity. The crashing, blown-out, and metallic percussion that invades the final leg has some almost hyperpop energy, elevating the infectious melodies on display to a new level. As 404vincent says on the song, he’s “almost famous,” and tracks like are only going to get him there quicker.
