Halifax’s Nap Eyes delivered a chill, yet dramatic alt-folk album with The Neon Gate. Each song feels like a warm hug, right down to the toasty and bluesy lead guitar, hushed jazzy drumming, sprinkled in keyboard synths, and backing of steady bass and acoustic guitar.
But what will keep you coming back to The Neon Gate is the poetic, almost stream-of-consciousness verses from lead singer Nigel Chapman. His vocals feel like they could live in the fantasy worlds of C.S. Lewis.
