The young Toronto rapper often opens up his songs by boasting that not only the current track, but “every other” track is “off the top.” With elastic flows and effortless cool reminiscent of the missing link between Young Thug and Travis Scott, it’s both believable and impressive.
On his latest — named after the Toronto townhouse community where he grew up that’s since been partially demolished and refurbished — Duvy takes some trendy sounds and revitalizes them, proving that there’s still life in something like a piano-laced trap beat by picking the most textured, rhythmic and interesting of the bunch.
