The grandson of Bob Marley is here to shake up the genre with hip-hop, dancehall, and Afrobeats energy.
M for Montreal is a renowned Québécois music festival and conference that brings together world-class musicians and industry professionals from Canada and around the world. The highly anticipated 16th instalment of this event will take place November 15 to 26 with both in-person and virtual offerings for indie music enthusiasts to enjoy.
Montreal’s culture, music and nightlife will take to the live festival stage in an “eclectic, high-calibre all-Canadian” musical line up. The all-star ‘Official Selection’ includes Montreal’s very own, Backxwash, Bleu Nuit, Choses Sauvages, Magi Merlin, Naya Ali, SLM and Yoo Doo Right; Saskatchewan quintet, Beach Body and Hamilton-based “moccasin-gaze” artiste, Zoon. This year, attendees can also experience these performances in a grand finale video production by Parce Que Films and Pestacle.
The conference will include a variety of pre-arranged one-on-one networking events (M for Mixer and The Supervision Department), workshops and panel series (What’s the Future (WTF), Music and Technology and Empowering Independence) led by international industry decision-makers and influencers. Topics include: the changing working conditions of music professionals, the deep metamorphosis of contemporary music journalism and its impact on the industry; the new faces of major post-pandemic music festivals; virtual reality as a new distribution model; “crypto-music”; technology-assisted creation; and the importance of maintaining the ecosystem of independent venues and promoters.
M for Montreal is the perfect opportunity to rendez-vous with local and international music industry professionals, artists and fans.
