Melodys Echo Chamber

Melody's Echo Chamber Thrives in Restraint on Unclouded

A refined turn toward clarity reveals Melody Prochet at her most grounded and assured.

by Sam Hendriks

Abandoning the impulse to fill every atom of space with sound, Melody Prochet returns with a refreshing and refined offering. Unclouded is her tightest and most unpretentious work to date—a stark contrast to the lush, sometimes overworked clutter that has weighed down previous releases. Fueled by thoughtful writing and deliberate production choices, Prochet hones her expansionist aesthetic with newfound focus and restraint.

She detangles her once-labyrinthine web of artistic visions with instrumental flourishes that feel beautifully organic. Take the transcendental xylophone arpeggios driving the climax of “Burning Man,” or the slick beat switch in “Childhood Dream” that mimics the soft jolt of waking from bliss when it blooms into a cascade of strings. Each addition remains faithful to Prochet’s well-established psychedelic grandeur while offering subtle refinements that elevate it.

A welcome embodiment of careful intention, Unclouded finds Prochet flourishing in her strengths without the exhausting weight of overthinking. She lifts this sentiment to its peak on “How to Leave Misery Behind,” declaring with newfound acceptance that “Life will take you right where you belong.” Now moving with the current she once resisted, Prochet has never sounded more attuned to the clarity that arrives when we choose to trust it.
