The Hot Hot Heat frontman kicks off a new era with a killer band, a sold-out show, and a setlist that blends nostalgia with fresh new moves.
Montreal punk quartet Poolgirl are back with a punchy new single, “Triple A,” offering a first glimpse of their upcoming EP Still Not Getting What I Want. Clocking in at just over two minutes, “Triple A” doesn’t waste a second—charging forward on a frenetic drumbeat packed with fills and crunchy guitars turned all the way into the red. It’s a raw and unfiltered burst of energy that marks a deliberate step into grittier, more confident territory for the band.
Lyrically, “Triple A” tackles the crushing weight of imposter syndrome and the spiral of indecision, flipping those emotions into something propulsive and productive. “Triple A” becomes a mantra—short for “anything anything anything”—a call to action born from frustration. There’s anger, shame, and urgency packed into every shouted word, but it’s ultimately about reclaiming power and momentum when you feel stuck or underestimated.
True to its punk ethos, the track is lean and loud—setting the tone for what’s to come on Still Not Getting What I Want. While the release date for the EP remains under wraps, “Triple A” is more than enough to get the wheels turning and the fists clenched.
