The grandson of Bob Marley is here to shake up the genre with hip-hop, dancehall, and Afrobeats energy.
Boise, Idaho’s Treefort Music Fest just announced their 11th annual Fort programming, which includes more than 10 unique forts which will host music adjacent events alongside more than 500 emerging artists and bands who will descend upon the city for the annual celebration of art and culture. From Comedy and Drag to your favourite indie darlings, Treefort guarantees a fort for everyone. And that’s in addition to the 45+ music venues that will host all of the live show experiences this year.
For those who have never been to Treefort, this multidisciplinary festival is a five-day experience filled with performances, workshops, art classes, readings, and more. Musical headliners this year include Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Leikli47, Margo Price, Surf Curse, Cautious Clay, and many more. You can find the full artist lineup here.
The timing of the festival is no accident either. Originally conceived as an event to re-route artists into the city before and after the beloved SXSW in Austin, TX, founder Eric Gilbert has created a destination music and arts event for artists and music fans alike. The ethos of the festival is immersed in strengthening ties with their Canadian neighbours to the north and Mexico to the south.
With more announcements yet to come, expect big things for the festival’s 11th year, but if “sit back and relax” is more of your style, then you’ll want to catch these stand-out performances from drag stars Kerri Colby and Big Dipper, comedian Tig Notaro, and renowned choreographer Joseph Hernandez. Don’t know what to do with the kids? Kidfort’s got you covered with a comedy show, dance band, breakdancing class and more! While the kids are there, unwind with a glass of wine at Alefort where the choices between beer, ciders, wine and cocktails are endless.
Other attractions to take advantage of in the “city of trees” include a Yogafort, Filmfort, Artfort, Hackfort, Podfort and Storyfort — a whole lot of forting for all shapes and sizes.
Treefort runs March 22 to 26, 2023 and tickets are going fast. Purchase your tickets at treefortmusicfest.com/tickets to FORTify your spot at Treefort today.
