The Montreal DJ blends moods, genres, and raw bass to create unmissable dance floor moments.
There hasn’t been a better collaboration in Canadian music in the last few years than the Anishnaabe duo project OMBIIGIZI.
Featuring Daniel Monkman of Zoon and Adam Sturgeon of Status/Non-Status, the debut album, Sewn Back Together, is a chimeric blend of moccasin gaze, post-punk, dream pop, and profound folk, about Indigenous histories, self-discovery, and honouring culture. There are moments of sonic violence, as with “Residential Military,” and moments of calming nostalgia, like on “Cherry Coke.” Simply, the album doesn’t miss.
