The 15th edition of Calgary’s Sled Island Music & Arts Festival kicks off on June 22. The festival continues its streak of bringing an eclectic range of talent together for five days, and this year is another showcase of eye-popping talent. The festivities are taking place across multiple venues throughout the city with more than 200 acts.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Calgary festival without giving a platform to some of the amazing local talent rising out of the Stampede City.

Hometown heroes representing at the fest include Clea Anaïs, the jazz fusion stylings of Sonido Nuevo, and introspective indie folkster Astral Swans. Other national appearances include Polaris Prize-winner Backxwash, Janette King, and Montreal rapper Maky Lavender (all of whom wowed us at last year’s Festival de Musique Émergent.

There will also be sets from Toronto-based singer/songwriter Mighloe, OMBIIGIZI, housepanther, Teon Gibbs, Sinzere, Zoon, and Matthew Cardinal of indie trio nêhiyawak.

The lineup also boasts a handful of big names dropping into Cowtown including emo post-punk five-piece Joyce Manor, indie stalwarts Built To Spill, electronic producer Suzi Analogue, and garage rockers LA Witch. These acts will be joining the previously announced selections, which include Princess Nokia, our March cover star Alex Cameron, SASAMI, and Pantayo, along with festival guest curator Sudan Archives.

Sled Island runs June 22 to 26 in Calgary, AB. Check out the full lineup details, including comedy, film, and special events programming at sledisland.com. You can also warm up to all the acts by tuning into Sled Island’s 2022 playlist.
